Apple Event: What products were announced

The highly anticipated #AppleEvent took place yesterday and we’re breaking down the highlights. From the iPhone 13 to the iPad mini, we have got you covered.

Apple TV Plus

In the first announcement, Apple communicated which shows and movies will be coming to Apple TV. These include The problem with John Stewart, Finch, and season 2 of The Morning Show.

iPad

Apple announced its new A13 Bionic chip that allows users to have a more responsive experience with the iPad. Some updates to the iPad include a 12MP Ultra Wide Camera as well as the inclusion of the feature, Center Stage. This feature automatically detects people and their movement and then adjusts the frame.

iPad mini

Updates to the design include narrow borders and rounded corners which allows for larger screen size. The iPad mini is also available in 4 colours: Purple, Pink, Starlight, and Space Grey. The iPad mini includes a USB C-Port to accommodate various devices. Like the iPad, the iPad mini will also support Center Stage.

Apple Watch

Apple announced the Series 7 Apple Watch. The new retina display allows for a 20% increase in screen size. A few updates include bigger button sizes and new ways to input text. The Series 7 Apple Watch is also crack, dust, and water-resistant.

iPhone 13

The iPhone 13 will have a sleek flat edge design with a ceramic shield front. It offers a new look with the lenses arranged diagonally and will be available in 5 new colours (Pink, Blue, Midnight, Starlight, and Product Red). The A15 Bionic chip allows for more performance and power efficiency.

Updates include a dual-camera system as well as a cinematic mode with rack focus which automatically allows the camera to focus on the subject. Apple touched on some privacy points such as Intelligent Privacy Protection and Mail Privacy Protection.

iPhone 13 Pro

The iPhone 13 Pro will be available in 4 finishes: Graphite, Gold, Silver, and Sierra Blue. Updates include a Super Retina XDR display and Pro Motion which allows the iPhone 13 Pro to respond dynamically to how you use it.

Apple announced 3 different types of cameras: Telephoto, Ultra Wide, and Wide. The camera will also feature Macro Photography which will allow users to focus and capture images at close distances. With regards to video, Apple announced the inclusion of ProRes Video and the ability for the iPhone 13 Pro to record up to 4K directly from the camera app.
