We have a number of IoT devices connected to the home; Ring Video, Hydrawise sprinkler system, SmartThings open and close monitors, Hue lights – what has been missing is how we permit someone to enter the home when they have pressed the bell on Ring Video. Can respond to a visitor through video and audio and exchange pleasantries if we are not home, but how to provide access.
Now here is something from Schlage – a dead bolt lock that is wifi enabled and integrates with Ring Video. Allegedly, if set up the visitor can still be engaged through the Ring Video app, but this lock can be controlled right within the Ring Video app. Now that is cool. Apologies to Apple fans, no Homekit support mentioned. Lock works with Amazon Key app and Schlage Home app. $249! Check out the promo video here
